Erica's Testimonials

Erica delivered an incredibly impactful message to over 500 of our freshmen and athletes. Her story is tragic yet compelling and stimulated a lot of discussion around the topic of alcohol use and social responsibility. She was able to engage the students, inspire and educate them without preaching to them. The response from students and faculty has been overwhelmingly positive.

Erica Upshaw came to Ohio State last night and gave an inspiring presentation for Greek Life and Ohio State Athletes. This was NOTHING like a typical boring speech on how to drink safe. Erica brings her own experiences into her presentation along with a lot of personality. She has certainly influenced me and I am sure many others. I highly recommend bringing Erica to any college, high school, or middle school to speak!

We had a wonderful experience with Erica on our campus. Her message is one of importance and relevance for college students. Students were engaged and responded to her powerful story without feeling like they were being lectured or talked down to. She is truly an inspirational young woman.

I listened to you speak at MU. I didn't think I needed to attend since I rarely party. You made a connection for me that I hadn't made myself. My friends often party and drink excessively. They ask me to come with them but I don't. What kind of friend lets them go make bad decisions and get sick without a concern? Next time my friends ask me to come I will. I'll be there to keep them safe, and, most importantly, to keep them alive. Thank you!

Erica, Thank you for coming to Mizzou to share your story. You were not like the typical speaker that lectures the audience. Instead your presentation was fun, interesting, and informative. I admire your ability to share the pain you experienced to teach others about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I hope you continue to tour universities and positively impact students like you did at Mizzou. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for speaking on our campus last night, Erica! This is the second time I've heard you speak and your story inspires me more and more every time. I've heard so much positive feedback from other students about how relatable your story was and how it encouraged them to talk to their friends about making good choices. Best of luck with everything!

Erica came to our university to speak to a number of students on the importance of making good decisions and how to react when a bad decision is made. She was extremely relatable and gave the students simple and effective ways to handle situations that can possibly be life-threatening. Erica shared real life experiences that sent a message that will surely improve and possibly save lives.

This was the 2nd time I have seen Erica's presentation. This is one of my favorite presentations, and having almost lost a sibling in a similar event, I really respect her for being able to do what she does. If anything will get through to kids in this day in age, this presentation will. "It doesn't matter who you are...you're in control." Thank you for coming, Erica. I know everyone loved the presentation as much as I did.

Erica was the inaugural speaker of our new "Anteater Speaker Series" as part of Alcohol Awareness Week. Many students came up after the program to share how moved they were by Erica's presentation, and I even talked to some student-athletes at a game a few days later that said she was just what students needed to hear. I think she is relatable, powerful and inspirational...and many students have shared with me that they agree!

Erica presented to 727 of our college students and had them captivated. Her message reaches college students because it is about being safe and taking care of one another, as well as specific instructions on how to do this. The feedback from our students, staff, and faculty in attendance was positive. Thank you Erica for an approach and message that is poignant to college students.
