David Hellstrom Photo

From The Today Show to higher education conferences, David Hellstrom challenges students to make healthy choices on alcohol and other important issues.

David has spent the last decade as a spokesman for healthy choices regarding alcohol and other health education issues as the Director of Education and Training for The BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network.

Although best known for his expertise on alcohol issues, he has produced dozens of educational materials on issues ranging from sexual assault, to illicit drug abuse, domestic violence and high-risk drinking. He is also a national advocate for the power of “Peer Theatre,” and many of his keynotes include dramatic and comedic elements, delivering important messages to students in a non-confrontational manner.

David definitely drilled home a message, about lasting attitude, and how we have the choice to change ourselves, our world-view and our daily perspective. He was phenomenal, and people are still talking about the impact of his message.

The students continued to talk about him the whole weekend. They liked being told that if you do drink, here is how to be safe; not "don't drink."

Ethical leadership keynote

David’s keynote, The Real Buzz, is frequently used for new student orientation or alcohol awareness week programming because few speakers have found a way to deliver important health messages in the humorous, respectful, empowering way that David does. His videotapes Eddy Talks! (alcohol abuse) and Confessions of an RA have received numerous awards. His keynote presentations on leadership encourage student leaders to act “from the heart” when confronting ethical challenges.
